Five Star & Basix Energy Rating

Invest In The Future

In Australia buildings are responsible for more greenhouse gas emission than all of the cars on Australian roads. By 2010, it is estimated that greenhouse gas emissions will increase by 48% above 1990 levels. The Australian government has a target to limit such emissions to only 8% above 1990 levels.  A large part of their plan to achieve this target is to introduce energy efficient housing.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Victoria has developed house energy rating software that rates the energy efficiency of a house on a star rating system similar to whitegoods star rating.  Houses rated 4 or 5 stars are considered to be energy efficient. A 5-star rated home produces 3-4 tonnes less greenhouse gas emissions per annum than a 2-star home.

Energy efficient glass products

Energy efficient glass products such as double glazing are a tool for window manufactures to make their windows more energy efficient which in turn gives the builder an option which can dramatically increase the energy efficiency of a house without compromising the site orientation or the size or placement of the windows.
