Newsletter August 04

It has been a very busy year with the introduction of the energy legislation throughout Australia and a real eye opener as to the level of knowledge of the industry when it comes to energy efficient glass.

Moen Glass have spent a great deal of time and effort in educating the window, building and design industries on the benefits of double glazing and how it impacts on the energy efficiency of a home.  It has been an interesting time presenting at Master Builder Association, Housing Industry Association and Glass & Glazing Association trade nights and information nights.  The level of knowledge of energy efficient double glazing is varied, some people knowing absolutely nothing and some very well educated on energy efficiency.

We have presented at over 40 nights and at times resources have been strained, however we believe that it is very important for the glass industry to get the message out to as many people as possible and that message will continue to be important for the next few years as we get more involved in building energy efficient domestic and commercial buildings throughout Australia.

Along with the presentations to industry we have also given many training sessions to builder’s one on one and in groups in conjunction with our customers, a special mention must go to Canterbury Windows and Mark Carrington (Sales Manager at Canterbury) for their efforts in arranging so many energy efficient glazing presentations to their customers and staff.

The window industry is also an industry with varied levels of knowledge so we have also spent a great deal of time training the sales teams of our customers.

We have developed a double glazing flyer to help explain the effect it has on the energy efficiency of a home and the benefits it offers over single glazing.  These flyers are available in window company showrooms making them readily accessible to the consumer and builders.

Once again the Moen Girls have been working very hard with the rest of the Sales team at The Moen Stand at The HIA Home Show in Sydney and also Design Build in Melbourne.  Many designers, builders and consumers visited the stand and were treated to a nice cuppa or a very refreshing drink along with some very valuable information on double glazing and energy efficiency.

Moen have also been on the recruiting trail looking for a replacement for Lawrie Hurley who has moved on to a new career with Boral/Dowell windows and also looking for a sales executive in Sydney.  It took us some time but we have finally filled the positions in Sydney and Melbourne and welcome Leigh Drew (Sales Executive Melbourne) and Rob Bugeja (Sales Executive Sydney) to the Moen team.  We have also had some internal changes and have created an internal customer service position for our major customers and congratulate Kylie Dean on her new role and know she will add a great amount of value to Moen Glass in this role.

So here’s looking at the year to come with more of the same focus on educating the industry on energy efficient double glazing.
